Indoor Water Park at Governor's Crossing Resort, Sevierville

Posted by Darryl Payne in Sevierville, TN

Wintertime in the Smokies looks just like a picture postcard with the beautiful combination of crisp, white snow and majestic mountains. During this time of year there's a chill in the air and a number of exciting ways to enjoy the winter wonderland. Sometimes, though, freezing fingers and toes bring a longing for warmer weather and fun in the sun. Now you can break out your bathing suit and enjoy the best of summer in the middle of winter when you visit the indoor water park at The Resort at Governor's Crossing. Located in Pigeon Forge, there are over 50,000 gallons of water that make up this aqua adventure including slides, water sports, hot tubs and saunas.

While most of the water park is indoors, the winding slides are covered and actually run inside and out. Enjoy the twists and turns of these daredevil slides before splashing into the heated indoor pool. Anyone with a minimum height of 48 inches is able to experience these thrilling rides. They're so much fun that children as well as adults will want to try them out. Be careful though… once you take the plunge you'll want to go back again and again.

If you have young kids they'll love the children's pool and water mushroom. The excitement builds as you splash in the downpour underneath the water mushroom or play with the giant balls. Toddlers also have their own splash and play area.

If you're more the athletic type, give water basketball or volleyball a try. They're both great ways to turn a little friendly competition into some exhilarating exercise. Whether playing with a family member or a newfound friend, water sports offer a fun way to work out. Another fantastic form of exercise is swimming with the Badu SwimJet System. This in-place pool creates a water treadmill that allows you to swim in place against the current. It's a fantastic way to burn calories as well as massage those weary joints and muscles without the need for an Olympic-sized pool.

Once you've finished your workout, head for the 20-person hot tub or Jacuzzi. Melt away all your stress as you relax with the company of friends. With a view of the pool, you can watch the kids play from a safe distance. Before calling it a day, visit the Finnish dry sauna. A little time in the sauna can help loosen up muscles and relax your entire body as well as provide relief from allergies and sinus congestion.

The Resort at Governor's Crossing is an amazing place to stay as you take in the sights and adventures of the Smoky Mountains. Whether you're looking for a place to play indoors that's out of the winter cold, or somewhere with close proximity to all the popular sites and sounds, this is the place for you. Best of all, this incredible water park is free to any guest of the resort!

Winter, spring, summer or fall; pack your bathing suit and head for the Smokies. You and your family will have an amazing time of wet, wild adventure when you visit the indoor water park at the Resort at Governor's Crossing.
