In 2001, Dollywood made a big splash in the Smokies with the opening of its very own water park, Dollywood's Splash Country. The 25-acre addition started out as a $20 million investment and has since gone through many multimillion-dollar expansions over the years, making it one of the top water-themed destinations in the region.

Throughout the Pigeon Forge water park are dozens of slides, pools and wet-and-wild attractions, all designed to help keep guests cool in the summer months. Activities range from short, tame slides for younger tots to long, steep and twisty slides that are guaranteed to add thrills to those chills. You'll also see family raft fides, a wave pool and areas that simply squirt and dump water to keep guests hosed down on a summer day.

In addition to the water attractions, Dollywood's Splash Country features several eateries, a gift shop and plenty of places to just stretch out and either soak up some rays or stay cool in the shade.

Note that although Splash Country is adjacent to the Dollywood theme park, it has its own separate parking area. You must also purchase separate tickets to enter Splash County, but there are combo packages available that give you a discounted price for attending both parks.

Dollywood's Splash Country is only open during the warm-weather season in East Tennessee, generally May through September. The park opens at 10 a.m. on operating days; it closes at 7 p.m. during peak season (mid June through early August) and at 6 p.m. on other dates.
