Pigeon Forge Show

With more than a half-million acres of rolling, rugged forests, Great Smoky Mountains National Park boasts some of the most beautiful woodlands in the eastern United States. In fact, before the creation of the national park, the timber industry was one of the main economic forces in this corner of the state.

The logging business dried up with the creation of the national park, but that legacy is still celebrated today in one of the Smokies' most popular live shows - Dolly Parton's Lumberjack Adventure. The show centers around two families living on the fictitious Timber Ridge in the Great Smoky Mountains, and it takes audiences back to a time when the first settlers to the area carved out a living in the wilderness.

Throughout the show, guests will see lumberjack athletes displaying skills like pole climbing, log rolling, tree chopping and hatchet throwing. Also featuring live performances by acrobats, aerialists and animal acts, the production offers engaging visual elements that everyone in the family can stay tuned in to.

The attraction originally opened as Lumberjack Feud in 2011, but last year, the show was acquired by Dolly Parton, who invested $25 million in creating a brand-new dinner-theater experience for guests. State-of-the-art sound and lighting and multi-million-dollar sets all help create a theatrical world in which audiences are totally immersed in a turn-of-the-century Smoky Mountains experience.

Before the show, guests are encouraged to hang out in the theater's Trading Post, an interactive location where kids of all ages can try their luck panning for gold or transform themselves into authentic lumberjacks and lumberjills.

And of course, all guests are served a multi-course dinner at the onset of the show. The menu features creamy timber slaw; buttery, homemade biscuits; campfire fried chicken; smokehouse pulled pork; logger potatoes; and buttery corn on the cob. The meal includes dessert and soft drinks, and they even have offerings for vegetarian and gluten-free guests who request such meals when reservations are made.

Dolly Parton's Lumberjack Adventure Dinner Show is located in Pigeon Forge at traffic light #3. Tickets can be purchased for just the show, or guests can get discounted ticket packages that include Dollywood theme park, Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, Titanic Museum Attraction and WonderWorks.
