Most visitors expect to find wildlife like deer or even black bears when visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, but at this Sevierville attraction, you can encounter fascinating creatures not just from the Amazon rainforest but from the Australian outback as well. Home to more than 400 animals from tropical and temperate climates, Rainforest Adventures is a place that is both educating and entertaining for guests of all ages.

The collection of animals-on loan from many of the finest zoos throughout the country-represents more than 130 different species, including reptiles, mammals, birds and creepy-crawly insects. You'll get to see live specimens of animals like snakes and alligators, lemurs and hedgehogs, cockatoos and parrots, and even tarantulas and hissing cockroaches.

In 2008, Rainforest Adventures Discovery Zoo added a 17,000-square-foot Aussie Walkabout section featuring kangaroos, wallabies and a walk-through bird aviary. At the sheep station, guests get to meet and feed the wooly friends who produce Australia's number-one agricultural crop. Pygmy goats, emus and grassland rabbits are also among the critters that call Aussie Walkabout home.
