Did you know that Pigeon Forge, Tennessee was established back in 1830? Step back into that time as you visit the historical sites of The Old Mill Square in Pigeon Forge. As you walk through The Old Mill Square, tour the water-powered grist mill that has continuously ground meal and flour since the early 1800's. The Old Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most photographed historical sites in the country!
On the Old Mill Square, choose to dine at two of the finest restaurants in Pigeon Forge: the Old Mill Restaurant and the Pottery House Café'. The Old Mill Restaurant has favorite family-style meals and starts with their famous Cornmeal Chowder. Experience authentic Southern cuisine like country-fried steak with milk gravy, creamy chicken and dumplings, and slow-cooked pot roast, to name just a few. Each is accompanied with scratch-made biscuits or corn fritters. Hungry yet?
Across the street is the Pottery House Café & Grille. Fine dining in a picturesque setting, select luscious, hand-cut steaks and locally caught rainbow trout as well as creative salads, delicious sandwiches and homemade whole-grain breads baked with flour from the mill. Indulge in pies or cakes at both restaurants or walk across the street for ice cream.
The Old Mill Creamery is not ice cream from the dairy truck. We're talking homemade and hand-scooped in all your favorite flavors plus unique ones including pumpkin pie, homemade blackberry and fresh peach. It's cool fun at its best!
For your sweet tooth, The Old Mill Candy Kitchen has rich fudge, hand-pulled taffy, chocolate-dipped raisins and those delicious, crunchy malted milk balls.
But there's more to do than just eat at The Old Mill Square. Shop at the Old Mill Kitchen and other stores for many of the mixes and dressings you've sampled in the restaurants. Take them home and recreate our country breakfast, lunch or dinner anytime.
You and your family should plan to spend the afternoon shopping at 9 unique specialty shops and buy gift baskets made for those who couldn't make the trip.
